Zechariah—Name means Yahweh Remembers


The Book of Zechariah divides into two main parts:

Chapters 1–8: Visions and messages during the rebuilding of the Temple.

Chapters 9–14: Prophetic oracles with apocalyptic and Messianic themes.


Zechariah 1:1-3 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, [2] "The LORD has been very angry with your fathers. [3] Therefore say to them, 'Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Return to Me," says the LORD of hosts, "and I will return to you," says the LORD of hosts.


EIGHT NIGHT VISIONS (As if God pulled the curtain back on the spirit world):

1.    God’s Presence and Protection – The vision of the man among the myrtle trees. 

Zechariah 1:14-17 


2.    Judgment and Deliverance – The four horns and four craftsmen. 

Zechariah 1:18-21 


3.    Future thickly populated and secure – Man with a measuring line.

Zechariah 2:3-5 


4.    Messianic Prophecy – The vision of Joshua the High Priest. 

Zechariah 3:1-4 

Zechariah 3:6-7 


5.    Spiritual Empowerment – The lampstand and olive trees. 

Zechariah 4:6 


6.    Judgment against Wickedness – The flying scroll. 

Zechariah 5:2-4 


7.    Wickedness removed from the land – woman in the basket. 

Zechariah 5:7-8 


8.    Final Victory – The four chariots.

Zechariah 6:5 


EXHORTATIONS & RESPONSES:

1.    Rituals without righteousness are meaningless. (Zechariah 7:5-7)
