THREE STAGES OF HABAKKUK’S BOOK:

1.    The questioning stage.

a.    Habakkuk 1:1-4 

b.    When there are questions, the Lord replies if we will listen.

c.     Habakkuk 1:5-7 

d.    God uses everything in creation for His plan.

e.    Habakkuk 1:11 

f.      God used the Babylonians as an instrument to bring correction to Judah.

g.    Habakkuk 1:12-13 


THREE STAGES OF HABAKKUK’S BOOK:

2.    The trusting stage.

a.    Habakkuk 2:1-4 

b.    Romans 1:17; Galatians 3:11; Hebrews 10:37-38

c.     The Habakkuk context: How to live when things are difficult.

d.    When times are uncertain, learn to trust God.

e.    Psalm 18:2; Psalm 91:2; Psalm 56:3 

f.      Habakkuk 2:20 

g.    Habakkuk moved from questioning God to trusting God.

h.    Psalm 5:11 

i.      There is a correlation between trusting God and rejoicing in God.

3.    The praising stage.

a.    Habakkuk 3:1,19

b.    Chapter 3 becomes a song where Habakkuk is rejoicing and praising God.

c.     Habakkuk 3:2-3 

d.    Since God has been faithful in the past, I will trust Him in the present and in the future.

e.    Habakkuk 3:17-19

f.      Habakkuk moved from confusion to consolation.
