Galatians 3:15-18 

THE CHANGELESS PROMISE AND PURPOSE:

1.    The promise is greater than the Law. 

a.    Genesis 17:7 

b.    The promise was made to Abraham and his Seed—Christ.

c.     The promise is permanent. 

d.    Illustration of human covenant (Last will and testament).

e.    The Law came 430 years later and could not cancel God's promise.

Galatians 3:19-22

2.    The law had temporary purpose.

a.    The law was given to expose sin.

b.    Romans 3:20

c.     An X-Ray can diagnose, but it is not a cure.

e.    The law does not produce righteousness.

Galatians 3:23-27 

3.    Faith is the channel into God’s family.

a.    Before Christ, the law kept people in custody waiting for Christ to be revealed. 

b.    After Christ, we stop trusting the rules and start trusting Christ.

f.      Titus 3:4-7 

g.    Christ fulfills what the Law could never accomplish.

Galatians 3:28-29 

4.    The Promise creates one family.

a.    The Gospel removes barriers.

b.    All who have faith in Christ are one in Christ.

d.    Our identity is no longer found just in race, nationality, status, or gender, but in Christ.

CONCLUSION:

Everyone who belongs to Christ shares equally in God's promises.
