Luke 19

JESUS CHALLENGES OUR INTENT AND MOTIVATION:

1.    Integrity versus dishonesty.

a.    Luke 16:1-2

b.    The issue is not money—it is faithfulness and accountability.

2.    Wisdom that the world pushes.

a.    Luke 16:3-8

b.    Clarification: Jesus commends the steward’s shrewdness, not his unrighteousness.

c.     Worldly wisdom is often strategic but selfish.

3.    Invest for eternity.

a.    Luke 16:9-13

b.    What you choose now as a priority affects what will happen in your future.

c.     Money is a tool, not a master.

4.    God’s economy versus the world’s economy.

a.    Luke 16:14-18

b.    External justification cannot hide internal corruption.

c.     Divorce was an area where Pharisees knew the Law but redefined it for personal benefit. Jesus exposes their pattern of selective obedience.

d.    God evaluates the heart, not religious loopholes.

5.    The rich man failed by missing his greatest opportunity.

a.    Luke 16:19-31

b.    His failure was not wealth—but ignoring eternal responsibility.

c.     Earthly comfort can blind us to eternal consequences.

d.    Tomorrow is not guaranteed—so the right response is required now.
