GROWING IN GOD’S PURPOSE

1.    We see devotion in the ordinary.

a.    Luke 2:21-24

b.    God works through ordinary obedience.

c.     Faithfulness in small things leads to spiritual growth.


2.    We see the opening of eyes that see salvation.

a.    Luke 2:25-35

b.    God reveals His promises to those who wait on Him.

c.     Waiting on God does not mean inactivity—it’s about faith-filled expectation.

d.    God honors spiritual hunger with divine revelation.


3.    We see worship continue in seasons of waiting and pain.

a.    Luke 2:36-38 

b.    Even in hardship, widowhood, and loneliness, we can remain faithful.

c.     Our pain doesn’t disqualify us from purpose.


4.    We see growth happens in seasons.

a.    Luke 2:39-40

b.    Spiritual maturity takes time.

c.     God develops people in stages—not shortcuts.


5.    We see how we can lose sight of Jesus in the routine. 

a.    Luke 2:41-50 

b.    Spiritual carelessness can cause us to lose intimacy with Christ.

c.     We are to be intentional about staying close to Jesus.


6.    We see the need for submission to advance.

a.    Luke 2:51-52 

b.    Humility and obedience precede promotion.

c.     Growth involves submission to God and godly authority.

d.    You don’t rush into wisdom and favor—you grow into it.
