Behold Jesus 3

THE UNWRAPPING OF THE GIFT OF JESUS:

1. The humility that wrapped the greatest Gift.

Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The prophecy of His simplicity.

Isaiah 53:2 (foretold of Jesus) For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him.

God’s plan for this Gift.

Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

Philippians 2:5 In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

2. The awe of those who recognized the Gift.

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;

Luke 2:20 Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

Matthew 2:11a And when (the Wise Men) had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him…

The awe is in revelation.

1 Corinthians 2:9-10 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” 10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.

3. The indescribable gift of Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

John 1:14 (John would describe Jesus) And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

The meaning behind the wrapping.

Philippians 2:7 rather, He made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Luke 2:12 This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.

What matters most is our response to God’s gift.

Luke 1:38 Mary, who said, “Let it be to me according to your word”

Conclusion:

What is your response to God’s Gift to us?

Have you lost your awe of Jesus?

Today, you can unwrap Him again and experience the awe afresh and worship Him by giving Him your whole life!
