The Kingdom of God 4
Colossians 1:13-14
13 For He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son He loves, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Scripture from the Holy Bible reminds us of a powerful truth—through Christ, we have victory! It is in Him that we experience and live out the victory of God’s Kingdom.
LIVING IN THE VICTORY OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD:
1. God has released us from the power of darkness.
Colossians 1:13a For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness…
The word DOMAIN in Greek is exousias, which translates to power or authority in English.
Kingdom here is not a territory but of authority.
Spiritual liberation from the domain of Satan.
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Ephesians 5:8-11 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
2. God has transferred us into the Kingdom of His Son.
Colossians 1:13b … and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,
This means our spiritual position has changed. From darkness to Light.
The Light impacts our:
Awareness.
Matthew 6:22-23 (Jesus said) “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
Protection.
Exodus 14:13-14 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. 14 The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
Purity.
John 8:12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
3. God has forgiven us through the blood of His dear Son.
Colossians 1:14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Hebrews 9:22b …without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
Ephesians 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.
Romans 3:24-25a And all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith…
1 John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.
Colossians 2:13-15 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.
This is how we live in victory in the Kingdom of God!
Conclusion:
Are you living in the VICTORY of the Kingdom of God?
